February Readings

Updated: Jun 1, 2021

Okay, so... I went down a rabbit hole and got comfortable down there. But let me explain, though! 😁

For years, I’ve been stuck on reading books from the same authors and just enjoying them as they released new work or going back to read the ones I hadn’t gotten my hands on in the past. But 2 of my top 3 authors haven’t put out anything new in awhile and the 1 who has been consistent is no longer among us. So, like I said last month, Iā€˜ve been on a quest to find new authors to fall in love with. I may have gotten a little carried away. But that’s fine with me. It’s giving me all the feels that made me fall in love with reading in the first place.

When we ā€œtalkedā€ last month, I made mention of my yearly reading goal and I was ecstatic about completing 5 books in one month. So, imagine going into the shortest month of the year thinking, we’ll see if I can get to that again, only to double it. Yes, I read 10 books for February. šŸ¤¦šŸ½ā€ā™€ļøšŸ¤·šŸ½ā€ā™€ļø I mean, they were short as hell. But when you work 7 days a week, how the hell did I have the time...? Oh yeah, I went on vacation twice. lol But that's for another post.

Back to the books and reading...

This months gaggle of authors are all new, minus the first one. I kicked off the month of love with my new fav, Danielle Allen. Her "Anti-Valentine" story is in a series with two new authors I added to my mounting crew of literary interests: Bailey West and Té Russ. The latter of the two I enjoyed well enough that the last two shorts I read to round off my February reading were by her. Both are very short for those who don't like extremely long novels but filling enough for those book whores that appreciate a beginning, middle, and end without compromising content. 4 of the books I practically inhaled this month were by another new favorite, Nicole Falls. She's another fan of repeat characters and I love it. So, if you haven't guessed it, I'm doing a character map for her books too. 😁 Oh, and I discovered her shop online and let's just say, the next couple of paychecks may be losing some coins to line her pockets. Because I started adding things to my cart and before I knew it, I was almost $150 in. So, I had to pull on the breaks and said, "Take your time, Kia. You'll get them all eventually." 🤣 Below is the list of my February Reading. I included the links for you to purchase them yourselves if you are inclined to do so.

I'm still plundering with the multitude of samples from varying authors on my Kindle app. More than likely, I'll have some new people to introduce you to next month. So, be on the look out for that. Also, while checking out one sample of a book on the app, I found a gem for those who have little ones that they want to ensure the incorporate reading in their lives. It's called Black Girl Shine! by Shavondra Walker. Check it out and see it that is something the kiddo(s) may like. Speaking of kiddos, my college roommate turned sister from another mister, Dannielle Payne came out with a children's book at the end of last year called I Belong to Earth. If her book is as enthusiastic as Dannielle is, I know your babies will enjoy it.

That's all I have for suggestions today, but look forward in taking you on this journey with me and giving you some new things to add to your own book collections. If you have any ideas of your own that I may want to check out, just add it in the comments for any of the Book Read posts.
