Hey y'all!!! I was supposed to post on the 1st, but WORK. Speaking of working... That's what this post is about. Not that 9-5 job that you clock in for a paycheck and benefits so you can pay your bills. Like, the work you want to be doing that doesn't feel like work. That one right there.
Let me start by a little rehash of where this topic came from. So, back at the end of May, I was put in the hospital. Your girl really was about to die. But I told y'all about that last month. What I didn't talk about was how accomplished I felt over the last couple of months and the revelations I've gotten since being sick.
When I was in the hospital, that was the most productive week I've had all year in regards to my writing and design business. I was confined to a bed with tubes everywhere. But I was able to make major plans for my writing, book-wise and my blog. The next phase is execution, which I'm in the process of doing now. I'm writing again, FINALLY!!! ("Writers block" is a bitch.) The writing is coming slow, but it's coming. Between the happiness I felt, even in the hospital, from knowing I'm making strides for me to eventually become my own boss and knowing I have people in my corner that are rooting for me, it's amazing.
I've said it before, and I will continue to say it until it has become a reality. I will be a full time author and graphic designer. I will eventually not have to work for anyone but myself because I will make enough money to sustain myself. I truly believe I have been getting signs all year on what I should be doing and where I'm headed. Now I need to just believe and put in the work to be successful. I want it so bad, I can taste it.
So, are you doing what you have been called to do? What is it that you keep getting that nagging feeling that you should be working on but you keep putting off? Why are you putting it off? Is it fear? Is it lack of resources? Lack of skill? Naysayers?
If you answered "yes" to that first question, congratulations boo!!! Everyone can't say this, me included. But I'm working on it. Are you? Sometimes we don't see ourselves in the dream job or working toward our purpose because we are afraid to take that leap. We will have all kinds of excuses why this THING won't work.
REMEMBER THAT
If you haven't started working toward your destiny because you lack the resources, search and research until you find some. Ask for advice. Ask people to assist you. And don't let pride be the reason you haven't asked for help either. There are too many avenues to reach our goals for us not to achieve them. Take a class, study under a master of the skill, get out your computer or tablet and look up how to get that thing you seek to be what it is you want to be. Block those negative people from your mind... Hell, from your life if you need to. Block those negative thoughts from your mind. Keep positive energy around. I'm not saying gather "YES" men/women either. Surround yourself with those who want to see you achieve and can give you proper guidance when needed. People who will call you on your shit but tell you, if done properly, you will succeed. Mind the company you keep because we don't need crabs to pull us down. And we don't need people praying for our downfall around us.
Manifest your destiny. Say that you can. Say that you will. If you want to get bold with it. Tell yourself that you DID. Say you did until it is a true statement. Put in the work and use the positive tool that can be provided to/for you and become that dream fulfilled. You got this, boo!
Until next time, GET TO WORK!
